Alchemy Records’ reissue project has launched, covering a wide range of genres including noise, punk, and psych, starting with albums by Hijokaidan — the band founded and led by JOJO Hiroshige in 1984. Osaka’s own S.O.B., said to have influenced grindcore heavyweights Napalm Death, teamed up with noise-violence collective Hijokaidan for this record. With noise surging in the background, it delivers unprecedented high-speed guitar, high-speed drums, and death-vocal performances — fast, cool, and noisy. The unit “SOB Kaidan” is a fusion of S.O.B., the hardcore band active in Osaka throughout the 1980s, and Hijokaidan. Released on vinyl in 1988, the initial 3,000 copies sold out immediately; it was subsequently pressed on CD three times, totaling more than 5,000 copies, all of which also sold out, leaving it currently out of print. This long-sought masterpiece — craved by fans at home and abroad for years — is now finally reissued.
