I heard this in middle school and couldn’t believe a band in Japan was mixing Suicidal Tendencies, hip-hop, and punk like that. The songs here are more straightforwardly melodic. Musically, the blood of the mixture/crossover movement — which erupted in the mid-’80s and accelerated through the ’90s — runs through every track. That borderless spirit, where different genres collided, merged, and sparked each other into new sounds, is exactly what Cokehead Hipsters are about.
