LOVEBITES has two guitarists, and they are not interchangeable. Midori takes the flashier solos. Miyako takes the slower, more melodic ones, and she is also the one who plays keyboards.

Piano First

Miyako has played classical piano since she was three. The guitar came later, in high school.

The rock came from home. She grew up listening to Deep Purple and Rainbow with her mother, and Ritchie Blackmore became a lasting influence. She has also named two much younger players, Tim Henson and Scott LePage of Polyphia. That spread, from 1970s hard rock to modern instrumental guitar, with a classical pianist’s training underneath, goes a long way to explaining the band’s writing.

One more name matters. She has credited Ettore Rigotti, of the Italian band Disarmonia Mundi, as the person who inspired her to start composing and arranging.

Support Player to Member

When LOVEBITES formed in Tokyo in 2016, Miyako was not yet a full member. She played guitar and keyboards as a support musician, under the name Mi-ya. She became a full member in August 2017, the year of the first album, Awakening from Abyss.

That detail is easy to skip past. The band brought her in to help, and within a year had decided it could not do without her.

The Records

She has been on every album since: Clockwork Immortality (2018), Electric Pentagram (2020), Judgement Day (2023) and Outstanding Power, released on 18 February 2026. The band often works on composition and arrangement with Mao, the former keyboardist of Light Bringer, the band Fuki used to front.

On 29 March 2026, LOVEBITES played a sold-out Nippon Budokan for the first time.

Why It Matters

Twin-guitar bands often split the work by speed. LOVEBITES splits it by character, and Miyako’s half is the one with the piano behind it. For the voice those songs are written for, read our piece on Asami. For the engine underneath, read Haruna.

Start with Judgement Day, then Outstanding Power.
