The band’s own tagline is “from Red Rock City, since 1992.” It formed in Kadoma, in Osaka Prefecture, and the official site presents redmammoth as a Kansai band built around live shows.

The name is written in lower case, as one word.

The Founders

redmammoth formed in 1992 around two members who are still in it: 稲中 (Inachu) on vocals and 健二村上 (Kenji Murakami) on guitar.

The rest of the band has changed around them. K-GO (guitar) and YU-YANG!! (drums) joined in December 2020, and morimo took over the bass in April 2026.

The Road

From about 1996 the band was going out on short tours, and later on nationwide tours with other bands, among them MINOR LEAGUE. In 1999 the two Osaka bands shared a split seven-inch.

The Records

The discography on the official site runs across three decades and several labels:

  • redmammoth, album, 30 August 1998, AOZORA RECORDS
  • Red Rock City, single, December 1999, Megaforce Corporation
  • Rock The Mammoth, album, May 2000
  • Red League, album, November 2004, 205 RECORDS
  • ガガン雨、ザザン風、ギンギン照りの空, mini-album, January 2006, CONCEPT PLOTS
  • 心配ないさ (Shinpai Nai Sa, “No Need to Worry”), mini-album, May 2010
  • 走 -SOU-, EP, November 2019, AOZORA
  • GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GO KNOCK DOORS!!, mini-album, September 2022
  • RED BOXX, six tracks, December 2023
  • 吠えろ (Hoero, “Roar”), a twelve-track digital album, 24 December 2024

The title of the 2006 mini-album is pure onomatopoeia: pounding rain, roaring wind, a sky that blazes. The 2024 album title is a single command: roar.

On Stage

The band runs its own event series, conoomoitodokumade, roughly “until this feeling reaches you.” Vol.17 is set for Shinsaibashi HOKAGE on 1 December 2026. On 1 November 2026 redmammoth plays MANPOWER 2026 at Namba Yogibo, with Hawaiian6 and NUMBERNINE among the other names.

There is also a YouTube radio show, 「ラジオマンモス」 (Radio Mammoth).

2027 will be the band’s thirty-fifth year.

Why It Matters

Plenty of Japanese bands live this way: one region, constant shows, records when they can. redmammoth has done it in Osaka since 1992, and its touring history ties it to hardcore bands such as MINOR LEAGUE.

Start with 吠えろ, then go back to Red League.
