Ray was not there when DEVILOOF started. He joined in September 2017, credited from the first day as seven-string guitar and vocal. The band had announced a pause that April, and it resumed on 1 October with him in the lineup.
Most of the catalogue came after his arrival: Oni (2019), Dystopia (2021), the major-label EP DAMNED (2023) and Song For The Weak (2024).
One Guitarist
DEVILOOF was a two-guitar band for most of its life. Seiya left in 2018. Aisaku took the other guitar that year and stayed until 31 August 2024. Since then the member list has had one guitarist on it.
The rest of the lineup moved too. Drummer Kanta departed at the end of 2025, and Nao joined on 1 January 2026. The band is a four-piece: Keisuke on vocals, Ray on guitar and vocals, Daiki on bass, Nao on drums.
Abroad and at Home
With that lineup history behind it, the band still went further each year: Mexico, Chile and Brazil in 2024, then a first European tour in 2025 that included Resurrection Fest in Spain.
At home DEVILOOF runs its own festival, DEVIFEST. The 2026 edition put the American band Butcher Babies on a bill with NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, Graupel, Prompts and DEXCORE. There is also D×D×J, a three-band night with DEXCORE and JILUKA, held at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM on 9 January 2026, with a three-city sequel announced for January 2027.
”Heavier, Faster, Stranger”
On 1 September 2026 the band announced its move to Universal Music’s Virgin Music. Ray’s comment was that DEVILOOF had no intention of tearing down what it had made, only of going past it — “heavier, faster, stranger.”
That is a clear promise from the one person who has to play all the guitar. Start with Dystopia, then Song For The Weak.
