Bands that change singers usually start again with new songs. UNDYING WORDS did something less common. In July 2026 it released AWAKE, a remake of its first EP, sung by the new vocalist.
The Band
UNDYING WORDS formed on 13 December 2024 around the bassist and leader 彪 (AYA). Its official profile describes 「アンダイ系」, undai-kei, a style label of the band’s own, with an ultra-aggressive, avant-garde sound and world. The same profile calls it a girls’ metal band. AVO Magazine called it metalcore.
AYA comes from Hokkaido, started out in a high-school light-music club and played in a visual kei band there before moving to Tokyo. According to AVO Magazine, AYA founded SARASVATI RECORDS in 2024, the label that releases the band’s music.
The First EP
The debut EP, Raven In The Abyss, came out on CD in March 2025. It had five songs: 蒼黒に咲く, シュラバサラ, “DAWN REBELS,” “BAD TRIP” and “UNDYiNG.” The original singer was Kasumi.
The Change
From summer 2025 the band used support vocalists. On 1 December 2025 Misaco officially joined as the vocalist.
The singles kept coming: “Modern Self” on 13 December 2025, the band’s first anniversary, “Silent Tears” on 15 March 2026 and “Rising Fire” on 6 June 2026.
The band plays live with support players, EITA on guitar and 華乃 (KANO) on drums.
AWAKE
AWAKE came out on 2 July 2026. It is a vocal remake of Raven In The Abyss with Misaco, and the songs have new titles: “End of despair,” “Re:IGNITE,” “Blade Arrow,” “Break Drive” and “Recovery.” The band has not said which new title belongs to which original song.
That is part of the appeal. Five songs written for one voice were renamed and sung by another. Comparing the two EPs side by side is the closest a listener can get to hearing a lineup change happen.
What Comes Next
A single, “UNDEFINED,” followed on 18 September 2026. The band’s first one-man show is set for Shinjuku ANTIKNOCK on 27 December 2026, and a full album is planned for December 2026.
Why It Matters
Re-recording a debut is a statement of confidence in the songs. UNDYING WORDS kept the songs, changed the voice, and told listeners to start again from the beginning.
Start with “Blade Arrow,” then go back to Raven In The Abyss and guess which song it was.
