When a band starts calling its music by its own name, it’s usually a sign of ambition. UNDYING WORDS call what they do Undai-kei — roughly, “the Undying school” — a genre label of their own, and the rest of their story backs up the confidence.

The Band

UNDYING WORDS formed on 13 December 2024, with bassist 彪 (Aya) at the centre as the band’s leader. The original singer was Kasumi. From summer 2025 the band used support vocalists, and on 1 December 2025 Misaco joined as the vocalist. On guitar and drums the band works with support players, EITA and 華乃 (Kano).

The band’s official profile describes Undai-kei as an ultra-aggressive, avant-garde style and world of its own.

Raven in the Abyss

The first EP, Raven In The Abyss, contains five tracks: 蒼黒に咲く (roughly “blooming in blue-black”), シュラバサラ, “DAWN REBELS,” “BAD TRIP” and “UNDYiNG.” The mix of Japanese and English titles — and the dark imagery running through them — gives a clear sense of the band’s world before a note is played.

Since then UNDYING WORDS has kept up a steady run of digital singles: “Modern Self” in December 2025, “Silent Tears” in March 2026 and “Rising Fire” in June 2026. In July 2026 the band went back to the beginning and released AWAKE, a remake of the first EP with Misaco singing and new song titles.

Scene Recognition

Aya’s standing as a bassist has already drawn attention beyond the band’s own circle. Loud-rock portal Gekirock ran a conversation between Aya and KISAKI, one of the charismatic bassists of the visual kei scene, which shows the circles the band already moves in.

Where to Start

Start with Raven In The Abyss, then AWAKE, and follow the singles in order.

Update (24 October 2026): An earlier version of this article named Kasumi as the band’s current vocalist and presented EITA and Kano as full members. Misaco has been the vocalist since 1 December 2025, and EITA and Kano are support players. We also removed an explanation of the band name that we could not source.
