SOLITUDE A SLEEPLESS NIGHTS has a short catalogue that is confusing to navigate, because part of it came out under a different name. Here it is in order.
The Metalcore Years
“Meteorlights” (2016). A free download single, and the first thing the band put out.
AGAIN&ALIVE (2016). The first EP, billed at the time as a demo.
OUR ENDS (2017). The second EP.
BEYOND CAUSALITY (17 March 2019). The third EP, and the first with Yoshiki Tamura on vocals and NORA on bass as full members. The music is credited to the guitarist Gen Sunami. It was presented as the band’s return after a short break. One of its songs has a Japanese title, “過日の影を踏む,” and was given a video.
The Eversolitude Records
In 2021 the band took a new singer and a new name. The story of that change is told here. These releases are filed under Eversolitude:
OVERWRITE (March 2021). The first release with the vocalist Tayori.
SLOWLYCOLLAPSE (25 November 2022).
The band described this music as post-hardcore, math rock and post-rock. If you came for breakdowns, this is not where to begin. If you like the more intricate, melodic end of Japanese rock, it may be exactly where to begin.
The Return
SET THE FIRE TO THE SUN (August 2024). The fourth EP under the original name. Three songs in nine minutes: “DIG YOUR OWN GRAVE,” “sink to undersea” and “AGNIS.”
INTO THE ENDLESS SOLITUDE (2026). The follow-up.
Three Ways In
If you want the band at its most direct, start with SET THE FIRE TO THE SUN. It is nine minutes long and makes the case quickly.
If you want to hear how it began, go back to BEYOND CAUSALITY. It is the record on which the long-running lineup came together.
If you are curious about the other side, play OVERWRITE.
One More Clue
The band has published a list of the groups it thinks its listeners will also like. It runs from American metalcore, with August Burns Red, Texas in July and This or the Apocalypse, to the British bands While She Sleeps and Our Hollow, Our Home, to the Tokyo post-hardcore of heaven in her arms.
That is a wide range, and it explains the catalogue. A band that loves both August Burns Red and heaven in her arms was always going to make more than one kind of record.
