Résumés don’t come heavier in this scene. Miho played bass in LOVEBITES — the all-female power metal band whose climb to the Wacken main stage we’ve argued was a structural event, not just a milestone. That band’s whole reputation was engineering-grade: songs at brutal tempos executed with zero tolerance for looseness, in front of the most metal-literate audiences on earth. The rhythm section carried that reputation nightly. Miho was half of it.

What a Foundation Player Knows

Bass in a band like LOVEBITES is an honesty test. Power metal at speed leaves nowhere to hide — the low end either locks the double-kick to the riff or the whole machine wobbles, and European festival crowds hear the difference instantly. Surviving and thriving in that chair teaches a musician things no bedroom career can: how to be the unglamorous reason everything works, how to tour hard, how to hold a band’s floor while the flashy instruments earn the applause. Foundation players from top-tier bands are the most transferable musicians in metal.

Which is exactly what Zilqy acquired. When the project surfaced in September 2025 with Miho’s name attached, the message to anyone who follows this scene was immediate: whatever this new band would be, it would not fall over. The floor was already installed.

The Second-Chapter Choice

There’s also something worth respecting in the decision itself. Walking away from a band at LOVEBITES’ altitude to build from zero — an EP called Vacant Throne, a first show, club rooms again — is the harder, prouder road, and it mirrors Toki’s own move from Aldious. Zilqy is, in effect, two veterans betting their accumulated craft on a blank page, with a bilingual voice and drummer Kano completing the wager.

On the EP, do the unfashionable thing: follow the bass. Notice how the electronic grooves in the band’s post-melodic new metal never float free — something is always pinning them to the ground. That’s the LOVEBITES education, redeployed. Thrones may sit vacant, but the ground under this band is already claimed.
