We introduced View From The Soyuz as one of the underground’s best-kept secrets. This time, the map: who the band is, how the catalogue developed, and why its debut album carries the title it does.
The Band
View From The Soyuz formed in 2021 and works out of Tokyo and Kanagawa. The lineup is a five-piece: masa on vocals, NARI and KEI on guitars, sima on bass, Shunsuke on drums.
The essential fact about them is that they are a hardcore band — that’s the base everything sits on — but one that has swallowed nearly every heavy style within reach. Newschool hardcore’s mosh logic, metalcore’s structure and melodic death metal’s harmonised guitar lines all get pulled into the same songs. The result doesn’t sound like genre-hopping, because the hardcore spine never goes away. Everything else hangs off it.
The EPs
The catalogue built up the way hardcore catalogues usually do: in short, sharp releases. The first EP, In Misty Path, came out in 2021, the year the band formed. Immaculate and The Last Chapter followed. Three EPs in the space before a debut album is a hardcore band doing things the traditional way: build the songs in short bursts, play them live, and only then commit to a full-length.
Ubiquitous
The first full-length, Ubiquitous, arrived on 11 June 2025. The title fits the record’s method: this is the album where everything the band absorbed is present at once, everywhere, all the time. It’s the natural place for a newcomer to start.
Then go back to In Misty Path and hear how much of it was already there.
