East Of Eden is a rock band led by a violinist. To see why it exists, look at the fifteen years she spent getting there.
The Classical Start
Ayasa was born in Tokyo on 19 October 1991 and started the violin at three. She went through the music programme at Toho Girls’ High School, and in 2009 placed fourth in the high-school violin section of a national classical competition.
That is the profile of someone headed for an orchestra. In 2011 she turned the other way.
Rock Violin
Her first vehicle was a rock violin project called Sword of the Far East. She left it in January 2015 to work under her own name, and released a first solo album, CHRONICLE I, that November. More volumes followed through 2019.
She also built an audience online, posting violin covers of anime songs. That led somewhere specific. In March 2020 she joined Morfonica, a band from the BanG Dream! franchise, as its violinist and as the voice of the character Rui Yashio. It was her first acting role.
DECAYS
Along the way she had a spell in a much darker band. In 2016 she joined DECAYS, the project led by Die of DIR EN GREY, and played on its album Baby who wanders.
Few musicians have both a visual kei guitarist’s side project and an anime franchise band on the same CV.
East Of Eden
On 8 August 2023 she launched a band of her own, choosing the players she wanted: vocalist Akane Minato, guitarist Yuki of D_Drive, drummer MIZUKI and bassist Wakazaemon. The first concert, at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo that October, sold out.
The releases have come steadily: the EPs Forbidden Fruit -1st piece- (20 December 2023) and -2nd piece- (24 July 2024), the album The First Eden - Seeds Of Hope (12 March 2025), and the EP Rising in Bloom (10 June 2026). Mina Yamauchi took over on bass after Wakazaemon left in December 2024.
Why It Matters
A violin in a rock band is usually a guest. Ayasa spent a decade as that guest in other people’s projects, and then formed the band where the violin is the reason everyone is there.
