CHAOS CONTROL released its first record in 2002 and its first full album in 2022. The gap is the story.

1999

The band exists because somebody asked. In 1999 the guitarist Kaneko was not in a band. Hiroshi Ohmoto, of the Japanese metal band VIGILANTE, offered him the chance to put out a CD, and helped assemble the lineup to make it. The singer, Mitsunaga, had been in VIGILANTE. The bassist, Unno, was still in it.

The result was an EP, Gathering Chaos, released in 2002.

Then Kaneko stepped away from music. From 2004 the band was on hold, and it stayed that way for a very long time.

2021

The restart came from a chance meeting online. In 2021 Kaneko and Mitsunaga found each other again on social media, and decided to make the album they had never made.

Call Of The Abyss was released on 24 August 2022, twenty years after the EP. The drums were played by Hibiki, of the band Matenrou Opera, who has supported the band on every record since.

The Second Life

Having waited two decades, the band did not wait again. A second album, The Legacy Within, followed on 20 September 2023, and a month later, on 22 October, CHAOS CONTROL played its first headline show.

In November 2024 two new members joined: a vocalist, Dan Figueiredo, and a second guitarist, Tamotsu. A mini-album, Lost In Time, came out on 22 January 2025.

There was one more change. Figueiredo left on 13 December 2025 for health reasons. Jinn, formerly of the band ILLUSION FORCE, had been helping out since 2025 and became the vocalist on 7 March 2026.

A third album, self-titled, was announced for 21 October 2026. It is the first with Jinn.

A Small World

Japanese power metal is a tight circle. ILLUSION FORCE, Jinn’s old band, is also the band of Ollie Bernstein of VIOLET ETERNAL.

Why It Matters

Most bands that stop for seventeen years stay stopped. This one came back because two old bandmates happened to cross paths online, and it has made far more music since than it did the first time.

Start with Call Of The Abyss, then The Legacy Within.
